Keeping busy with a new "gig"

Happy first day of March!

So, the reason I’ve been a bit distant on my blog and on commenting on y’all’s blogs in the last week or so is because I’ve been accepted as a copyeditor/proofreader for Chippewa Publishing, and it’s already keeping me busy!

I’ve just begun and already I’m busy copyediting/proofreading TWO full length manuscripts for Chippewa! I love this job, and I’m thrilled that they accepted me– they’re some really nice people to work with! I (probably) normally wouldn’t be so busy, but I took on a second manuscript when someone else couldn’t complete it, and I need to get the two of these finished hopefully within the next week!

Plus, I’ve been just kinda down lately. Not really sure why. Just in a bit of a funk.

Nope, I still haven’t gotten the trackback problem fixed. It seems to have no problem locating trackbacks that I’ve posted within my own blog, but it won’t locate trackbacks that others have made (and I know there have been several). It’s really frustrating, since some of these people are linking to me for memes or just other stuff, and instead of being notified, I just have to “happen” upon it. Ugh!

And I miss MyBlogLog, too! Double-ugh! (Edited to add: I figured out how to get MyBlogLog to work again! I needed to adjust the width to fit my sidebar. I thought that was it the whole time, but I didn’t realize that I could change the width myself. Hooray– it’s back!)

And thanks, Lori, for introducing me to Mozilla Thunderbird! My hubby knew about it, but hadn’t thought to install it on my computer (he uses an older Mac). Anyway, I absolutely love it– SO much better than Outlook! We had to download the newer beta version because the other one was a bit wonky, but the beta is amazing! I’ve only had it for a few days and already I don’t know how I lived without it before. 😉 (I love all these alternatives to Microsoft! They’re so much better! Bye bye, Internet Explorer and Microsoft Outlook. Hello Firefox and Thunderbird!)

I’ve got some posts I’ve been working on in small spurts, and have been saving them as drafts. There are a few memes there, as well! I’ll try to get at least one of them posted tomorrow, to give some food for thought for the weekend. And I will get to commenting on y’alls blogs ASAP! (I’ve been reading some great excerpts of posts in my Bloglines– can’t wait to get to commenting!)

  1. I didn’t realise you were involved over at Chippewa too. They do seem to be moving on up in the epub world.

Congrats on the Chippewa Publishing job. I was considering applying for the art director position there. It’s definitely a job I’m qualified for and would love, but I don’t have publishing experience, which the job description lists as a requirement. I wonder if Rebecca would consider me if it’s still open.
